The purpose of the Australian Outback Ministry is to bring praise and glory to God in fulfilling the Great Commission. The latter part of Acts 1:8 proclaims that we should be witnesses “unto the uttermost part of the earth.” AOM reaches out to the rural parts of our nation with the aim of cultivating the hearts of men, planting the seed of God’s Word, and reaping a harvest for Him.
The process by which AOM fulfils its purpose is in some
ways, maybe a little bit different than one might expect in planting churches in urban areas. AOM is an itinerant, evangelistic outreach ministry. God’s direction, proper timing, and God given patience is a must, given the fact that many of the areas that AOM ministers to have never been reached before. Letterboxing, personal contact, and various evangelistic outreach meetings are tools that are used in cultivating and planting the truth in the hearts of the people. There are also several Christian families that are in need of encouragement and fellowship. Time is spent with these families “exhorting them to continue in the faith.”
The problems that are faced in the AOM ministry are more than likely the same issues that all church planters face. The apostle Paul summed in up nicely in one verse in Philippians 2:21, “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.” It’s classic human nature… “I can take care of myself, I don’t need any help. I don’t need God.” Apathy is prevalent. One important thing to remember in dealing with this issue, is to lean on the understanding of I Corinthians 3:8, “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
people who have never heard of the love of Christ! Souls need to be saved, baptised and God’s Word needs to be taught! Thank you for praying!
